Homes in the area
Fife Housing Group has a total of 437 homes in the Dunfermline Area.
These are situated in:
The Abbeyview Area –mainly two and three bedroomed cottage types
The Dunfermline Eastern Expansion area to the east of Linburn Road – new build two and three bedroomed houses and flats
North of the A823 Hospital Hill – mainly cottage type houses and flats.
They are made up of a mixture of older cottage-type homes and new build houses and flats. The latest development of 23 homes on Duncan Crescent was completed last year.
Fife Housing Group and Persimmon Homes are developing a further site at Islay Road with 33 homes including one and two-bedroomed flats and five cottage-type houses.
The Abbeyview area lies to the east of Dunfermline and has a population of around 8500. Much of it was developed in the 1950s and 1960s and comprises mainly cottage-type housing and flats. Much of FHG’s housing in this area is former Scottish Homes stock dating from 1945.
Plans to regenerate and revive the area were launched by Fife Housing Group and partners, including Fife Council and the local community in 2000. This has involved demolition of many of the older and hard-to-let properties and the rebuilding of energy-efficient, modern homes. In the past 15 years a total of 170 new homes have been built at a cost of £17.5million.
Dunfermline’s Eastern Expansion lies in the area between Linburn Road and the M90. Scheduled for new development at the end of the 1990s the area has seen around 4000 homes built since 2002.
